Duties:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Services, the Financial Analyst performs accounting and related analytical functions while developing and documenting procedures.
Work Performed:

Computes, reviews and compares a variety of financial, accounting, payroll, and statistical information for City departments and services.

Reviews, performs journal entries, and makes recommendations to ensure financial transactions are recorded completely and accurately.

Prepares documentation and reports in accordance with established procedures.

Prepares month-end and year-end reports and statements.
-
Conducts month-end and year-end procedures; assists with the year-end audit in accordance with established procedures, including preparing audit working papers to support the accurate recording of the Corporation’s activities.

Responds to departmental and corporate inquiries.

Searches records and provides information and data from files; assists in resolving discrepancies.

Researches and resolves a variety of issues related to assigned activities.

Provides information and assistance to other City staff regarding applicable financial policies, rules, and procedures.

Interprets financial policy, provides recommendations, and works with management to resolve financial issues of varied complexity.

Interprets computer-generated reports related to assigned activities.

Maintains departmental recordkeeping and filing systems in accordance with records retention and disposal requirements.

Assists in maintaining a safe work environment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
3-year diploma in Accounting/Finance
-
Minimum 1-2 years related professional experience.

Testing will form part of Qualifications
Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications

Ability to use standard and specialized software, including electronic operating and financial systems.

Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.
