Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Project Engineer is involved in all aspects of the review of materials in support of development applications, including commenting on Site Plan, Subdivision, Official Plan Amendments (OPA's), Zoning By-law Amendments (ZBA's), Draft Plan of Subdivisions, Draft Plan Conditions, and Committee of Adjustment applications. The position also acts as Project Manager for civic infrastructure, corporate development improvement, and maintenance projects.
Work Performed:
- Facilitates and attends pre-consultations meetings with developers and consultants on development applications
- Reviews, examines and provides comments on drawings, plans, reports, and specifications regarding development and planning applications to ensure compliance to applicable guidelines, By-laws, practices, procedures, standards, and regulations
- Review and approve Environmental Compliance Approval applications for storm sewers, sanitary sewers and stormwater management infrastructure
- Responsible for project management, from planning through to design and construction of City capital and corporate development projects, on time and on schedule
- Manage Municipal Class Environmental Assessments for transportation, road and municipal infrastructure renewal projects
- Liaise and work with staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, developers, consultants and the public
- Provides management direction to employees by planning, assigning and supervising work as well as providing guidance and advice
- Prepare detail costing for engineering, capital and corporate projects to be integrated into departmental budgets and capital forecasting
- Comply with all workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures including but not limited to: attend and participate in all H&S training and education activities; identify and report all H&S risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and damage and ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner including the proper use of all assigned personal protective equipment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate University Degree in Civil Engineering
- P. Eng Designation
- Minimum 3 years directly related professional experience
Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications
- Project Management training or Certificate an asset
- Municipal Infrastructure Design and Contract Administration
- Municipal, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Environment and Engineering Association guidelines/regulation
- Understanding of Asset Management and Public Sector Accounting Board reporting
