Duties:
Reports to Public Works Supervisor. Operates a variety of large and specialized equipment to maintain, repair or construct municipal infrastructure.
Work Performed:
- Operates specialized equipment to construct, clean, repair and maintain municipal sidewalks, streets, roads, sewer systems, premises and facilities. This equipment includes, but is not limited to air compressors, flushers, garbage packers, road sanders, rollers, sewer rodding machines, sidewalk snowblowers, sidewalk sweepers, tractor loaders and tractor plows, and articulated loaders, bulldozers, compactors, backhoes, graders, road snow blower, sweepers, tractors and vacuum truck.
- Performs routine equipment maintenance functions, including inspection, lubrication, installation of attachments and cleaning.
- Performs seasonally related duties, including snow clearing, salting, sanding and debris removal.
- Provides task and project assistance to other Public Works employees as required.
- Operates Class I equipment as required.
- Assists and maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Diploma.
- Minimum 1-2 years related professional experience.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class DZ).
Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications
- Must be able to perform physical work in all weather conditions.
- Required to work according to a designated schedule including standby.
